Our Take on This Opportunity

This section reflects Open Opportunities’ own analysis of the opportunity from an applicant’s perspective.

You may be a strong fit if…

  • Ideal for professionals with a background in IT support or HR systems who enjoy bridging the gap between technical configuration and user needs.
  • A great match for individuals who value a structured, detail-oriented work style and can explain technical concepts clearly to non-technical users.
  • Suitable for those seeking a stable part-time role (20 hours) within a prestigious academic environment.

What should you think carefully about?

  • The role is initially limited to one year, though there is a stated intention or possibility for it to become a permanent position.
  • Requires high proficiency in both German and English to support a diverse range of international applicants and university staff.
  • The salary is based on a collective agreement; while experience is credited, the base rate is fixed by the pay scale.

How could this fit your current goals and plans?

This position offers a solid entry point or stable career path in university administration and digital services. It allows the successful candidate to gain specialized experience in managing academic recruitment software (apte NG) and working within the complex ecosystem of a large European research university. For those interested in IT project management or HR technology, it provides hands-on experience with system configuration, stakeholder management, and process optimization.

Our take

This is a strong opportunity for administrative or IT support professionals looking for a part-time role in Vienna with good benefits and a clear path to permanent employment. It is less suitable for those seeking full-time work immediately or those who prefer a purely technical role without significant user support and communication duties.
