Our Take on This Opportunity
This section reflects Open Opportunities’ own analysis of the opportunity from an applicant’s perspective.
You may be a strong fit if…
- Master's degree holders in statistics or mathematics
- Individuals with a strong interest in machine learning theory and statistical inference
- Candidates who thrive in collaborative, international academic settings
What should you think carefully about?
- The 30-hour work week is a part-time arrangement that should be factored into your financial planning
- The contract has an initial 1.5-year term, with extension dependent on performance and progress
- You should confirm if the hybrid work policy aligns with your ability to reside in or commute to Vienna
How could this fit your current goals and plans?
This position offers a clear, supported path toward a PhD in a specialized, high-impact research group. It is an excellent opportunity for someone looking to build a career in mathematical statistics while gaining teaching experience and access to extensive professional development resources.
Our take
Highly motivated students with a strong theoretical foundation should apply, especially if they value a structured research environment; those seeking a purely independent research role may find the teaching and administrative components a distraction.
