Our Take on This Opportunity
This section reflects Open Opportunities’ own analysis of the opportunity from an applicant’s perspective.
You may be a strong fit if…
- Professionals with extensive experience in EU-funded grant programmes, particularly in Türkiye, will find their background directly applicable to this mandate.
- Candidates possessing strong monitoring, evaluation, and auditing skills within the climate change or environmental sector can immediately add value to Component E.
- Bilingual candidates fluent in both English and Turkish who are comfortable working in a home-based retainer arrangement will thrive in this role.
What should you think carefully about?
- This is a short-term retainer position capped at up to 130 working days over a 12-month period rather than a full-time permanent staff contract.
- Travel, accommodation, and living costs in the primary duty station (home-based and Ankara) are the responsibility of the expert.
- Applicants must already meet rigorous specialized experience thresholds, including prior work with government institutions in Türkiye and international donor-financed grants.
How could this fit your current goals and plans?
This retainer role is ideal for experts seeking high-impact, flexible consultancy work within international development and climate action. It allows specialists to contribute to a major EU-funded environmental initiative while maintaining schedule flexibility through its home-based retainer design.
Our take
Experienced development, grant management, and monitoring professionals with deep knowledge of EU and Turkish institutional frameworks should strongly consider applying before the November 2026 deadline. It is less suitable for candidates seeking full-time staff employment or those lacking specific project implementation experience with international donors.
