Our Take on This Opportunity

This section reflects Open Opportunities’ own analysis of the opportunity from an applicant’s perspective.

You may be a strong fit if…

  • Strong fit for agronomists and agricultural engineers with robust field experience in rural development and community capacity building in Colombia.
  • Ideal for professionals passionate about climate resilience, food security, and supporting vulnerable rural populations.
  • Well-suited for candidates with prior exposure to emergency agricultural recovery and sustainable production models in fragile socio-environmental contexts.

What should you think carefully about?

  • The position is offered on a temporary 6-month contract basis, which requires managing short-term project cycles.
  • Relocation or presence is required in Tierralta and/or Montería within the Department of Córdoba, Colombia, with frequent travel expected.
  • Fluency in Spanish (level C) is mandatory to effectively communicate with local farming communities and project teams.

How could this fit your current goals and plans?

This role provides an impactful opportunity to contribute hands-on expertise to international humanitarian and agricultural development efforts in Colombia. It suits professionals looking to apply technical agricultural skills directly to community resilience, disaster risk reduction, and livelihood recovery.

Our take

Experienced agricultural engineers and agronomists with residency in Colombia and a strong background in rural technical assistance should seriously consider applying. The position is less suitable for candidates seeking permanent institutional roles or those unable to relocate to Córdoba.
