Our Take on This Opportunity
This section reflects Open Opportunities’ own analysis of the opportunity from an applicant’s perspective.
You may be a strong fit if…
- Strong background in physics with specific knowledge of Cherenkov radiation and particle identification
- Practical programming skills in Python and C++ applied to machine learning or data analysis
- Currently holding a bachelor's degree and seeking hands-on research experience in experimental particle physics
What should you think carefully about?
- The position is a fixed-term contract limited to one year, requiring you to plan your subsequent academic or professional steps accordingly
- The workload is part-time at 7.5 hours per week, which suits students but offers limited working hours
- Relocation to or local presence in Bochum, Germany, is required as the workplace is on-site at the university campus
How could this fit your current goals and plans?
This role fits well for recent bachelor's graduates in physics or related fields who want to build applied data science and machine learning competencies within an active experimental high-energy physics research group.
Our take
Bachelor graduates with programming skills in Python and C++ and an interest in particle physics should apply before the October 30, 2026 deadline. It is less suitable for candidates seeking full-time employment or those without a background in nuclear and particle physics.
