Our Take on This Opportunity

This section reflects Open Opportunities’ own analysis of the opportunity from an applicant’s perspective.

You may be a strong fit if…

  • Ideal for recent PhD graduates specializing in quantum computing, quantum software, or computer science with a heavy quantum focus.
  • Well-suited for researchers eager to gain hands-on hardware experience using real 50-to-300 qubit superconducting quantum computers.
  • Strong opportunity for candidates interested in bridging academic research with industrial applications through the UnloQ project.

What should you think carefully about?

  • The role is fixed-term for two years, requiring future career planning beyond the initial contract period.
  • Relocation to Helsinki, Finland is necessary as the role involves working locally with university research infrastructure.
  • The position carries a six-month trial period during which performance and fit will be evaluated.

How could this fit your current goals and plans?

This postdoctoral position provides an exceptional stepping stone for early-career researchers aiming to establish a strong publication record in quantum software, error correction, and quantum middleware. It offers valuable exposure to multidisciplinary academic environments and direct industry collaboration, making it ideal for those targeting future roles in advanced academic research or the emerging quantum technology sector.

Our take

Strongly recommended for PhD holders in computer science or quantum computing with proven coding skills in environments like QisKit. Candidates who prefer permanent positions or are unable to relocate to Finland may find this role less suitable.
