About the opportunity

The Department of Electrical and Photonics Engineering (DTU Electro) at the Technical University of Denmark is hiring a Postdoc to develop, implement, and analyze advanced optical communication systems. The role involves working with wavelength-division multiplexing (WDM), multi-core fiber systems, and microcomb-based optical communication. The researcher will operate high-bandwidth experimental equipment, design and conduct transmission experiments, and utilize digital signal processing (DSP) to optimize system performance and mitigate cross-talk. This 2-year position offers the opportunity to contribute to high-capacity optical communication research in an international, collaborative environment.

Salary and benefits

  • Salary based on the collective agreement with the Danish Confederation of Professional Associations
  • Negotiable salary supplements in accordance with DTU’s scientific staff salary structure
  • Employment in a globally recognized technical university with an international, inclusive, and informal work culture
  • Opportunities for academic freedom and professional development

Who can apply?

  • PhD degree in optical communications, photonics, electrical engineering, or a related field
  • Strong research background in optical communication systems and digital signal processing
  • Experience with multi-core fibers, MIMO processing, or similar advanced communication techniques is an advantage
  • Knowledge of probabilistic shaping and coding methods within DSP
  • Familiarity with optical amplifiers, particularly semiconductor optical amplifiers
  • Strong analytical, problem-solving, and communication skills
  • Proficiency in programming and simulation tools such as MATLAB
  • Ability to work both independently and collaboratively
