Our Take on This Opportunity

This section reflects Open Opportunities’ own analysis of the opportunity from an applicant’s perspective.

You may be a strong fit if…

  • Professionals with extensive federal experience at the GS-12 level seeking a high-level project direction role in international defense infrastructure.
  • Candidates possessing authoritative knowledge of Air Force, Joint, or allied operational missions, policies, and regulations.
  • Individuals skilled in qualitative and quantitative analytical techniques capable of coordinating cross-agency integration efforts across operations, maintenance, and security.

What should you think carefully about?

  • The position is a fixed 3-year appointment rather than a permanent career civil service position.
  • Strict application rules apply, including a hard two-page resume limit and specific documentation requirements like SF-50 forms or military discharge papers.
  • Relocation to Lakenheath, United Kingdom is required, though overseas allowances may be authorized depending on your initial permanent residence.

How could this fit your current goals and plans?

This role is well-suited for mid-to-senior career federal analysts or military-transition candidates looking to take on high-visibility international leadership responsibilities in defense program integration. It offers a structured three-year opportunity to manage complex, POTUS-directed initiatives within a strategic overseas environment.

Our take

Applicants with current GS-12 experience or equivalent specialized defense backgrounds who meet the strict documentation and time-in-grade criteria should strongly consider applying. Those without federal administrative experience or who cannot meet the precise two-page resume format will find this vacancy unsuitable.
