You may be a strong fit if…
- Licensed Practical or Vocational Nurses looking to provide patient-centered care in an outpatient setting.
- Candidates who thrive in collaborative healthcare teams and enjoy tasks like patient education and clinic flow management.
- Nurses seeking a comprehensive federal benefits package, including paid parental leave and childcare subsidies.
What should you think carefully about?
- The position requires a 1- or 2-year trial period, which is a standard requirement for these federal roles.
- Participation in the seasonal influenza vaccination program is mandatory for all selected applicants.
- The role is in the Excepted Service, meaning it does not confer the same competitive status as other federal appointments.
How could this fit your current goals and plans?
This role is a perfect fit for nurses aiming to transition into the VA system to enjoy long-term stability and extensive benefits. It is an excellent opportunity to gain experience in primary care nursing while working within a supportive, structured healthcare environment.
Our take
Licensed nurses who value a stable, benefits-rich environment and enjoy outpatient clinical work should apply. It is less suitable for those seeking competitive service status or remote work.
