About the opportunity
The Genomic Epidemiology research group at the DTU National Food Institute focuses on developing computational tools and solutions for analyzing pathogen genomic data, combined with wet-lab investigations and verification. As a Laboratory Coordinator, you will support various ad hoc laboratory and analytical activities. This includes conducting a broad range of wet-lab investigations, managing routine obligations, helping analyze data using software, drafting results in plots and figures, conducting training for students, and ensuring the laboratory component of research studies. You will work in close collaboration with other researchers in the group as well as national and international partners.
Salary and benefits
- Full-time employment with a starting date of November 1, 2026 (or by mutual agreement).

Our Take on This Opportunity
This section reflects Open Opportunities’ own analysis of the opportunity from an applicant’s perspective.
You may be a strong fit if…
- Master's degree in microbiology, biotechnology, or a related field.
- Proven experience in wet-lab investigations, specifically bacterial cultures and molecular biology techniques like PCR and cloning.
- Interest in bridging computational data analysis with hands-on laboratory research.
What should you think carefully about?
- The role requires on-site presence at the DTU Lyngby Campus in Denmark.
- Candidates should be prepared for potential open-source background checks due to security and export control regulations.
- The position involves a mix of routine lab management and training duties, which may be less research-intensive than a pure postdoc role.
How could this fit your current goals and plans?
This role is an excellent fit for a professional seeking to establish a career in a high-level research environment while maintaining a balance between technical laboratory work and data-driven genomic epidemiology. It offers the opportunity to work within a prestigious institution and contribute to significant research projects, making it a strong stepping stone for those aiming to specialize in the intersection of microbiology and computational analysis.
Our take
This is a strong opportunity for experienced laboratory professionals with a background in genomic microbiology who value an international, academic environment. Those looking for a purely independent research role may find the coordinator and training responsibilities less aligned with their primary interests.
