Our Take on This Opportunity

This section reflects Open Opportunities’ own analysis of the opportunity from an applicant’s perspective.

You may be a strong fit if…

  • Professionals with at least 5 years of experience in data management, epidemiological surveillance, or vaccination programs.
  • Candidates with a strong background in public health, statistics, or demography looking to apply technical expertise to disease control.
  • Individuals comfortable with operational research and the ability to conduct supervisory field visits to provinces and districts.

What should you think carefully about?

  • This is a 1-year temporary appointment, which may not suit those seeking long-term stability.
  • The role requires on-site presence in Luanda, Angola, and involves travel to various provinces, so applicants should be prepared for field-based work.
  • Candidates must be non-smokers and meet specific WHO vaccination requirements before starting the assignment.
  • Applicants should verify the specific impact of mandatory pension and health insurance deductions on the base salary.

How could this fit your current goals and plans?

This role is an excellent fit for a public health professional aiming to gain high-level experience within a major international organization like the WHO. It offers a unique opportunity to contribute directly to integrated disease surveillance and vaccine-preventable disease control in a challenging field environment, which can significantly bolster a career in global health or epidemiology.

Our take

This opportunity is ideal for experienced data management professionals ready for a high-impact, one-year field assignment in Angola; it is less suitable for those who cannot commit to on-site field travel or who require long-term career security.
