Our Take on This Opportunity
This section reflects Open Opportunities’ own analysis of the opportunity from an applicant’s perspective.
You may be a strong fit if…
- Ideal for professionals with a background in top-tier management consulting who want to apply their skills to humanitarian challenges
- Strong fit for candidates with advanced quantitative analysis skills and experience in operational model design
- Well-suited for individuals who thrive in multicultural environments and can navigate complex inter-agency diplomacy
What should you think carefully about?
- The role is a fixed-term consultancy (6-11 months), which may not be suitable for those seeking long-term permanent employment
- The position requires being 'fully present' on-site in Rome or Munich, which may involve relocation
- While not mandatory, the preference for a second UN language may make the selection process more competitive
How could this fit your current goals and plans?
This consultancy offers a significant opportunity for early-to-mid-career professionals to transition from the private sector into the international development sphere. It provides high-level exposure to UN reform and strategic planning, making it an excellent stepping stone for those aiming for leadership roles in global NGOs or international organizations. The focus on 'end-to-end solutions' ensures that participants gain practical experience in both strategy development and implementation monitoring.
Our take
Professionals with 2+ years of management consulting experience and a passion for humanitarian work should seriously consider this role. It is less suitable for those without a consulting or finance background or those who cannot commit to an on-site role in Europe for the duration of the contract.
