Our Take on This Opportunity

This section reflects Open Opportunities’ own analysis of the opportunity from an applicant’s perspective.

You may be a strong fit if…

  • Experienced auditors with a background in federal or defense-related contract auditing
  • Professionals holding active CPA or CIA certifications who meet the specialized GS-12 experience threshold
  • Leaders comfortable managing teams of professional auditors and overseeing complex audit programs
  • Candidates who thrive in structured, mission-driven environments like the Department of Defense

What should you think carefully about?

  • The role requires a high-level security clearance, which involves a rigorous background investigation and potential polygraph testing
  • Applicants must strictly adhere to the two-page resume limit to avoid disqualification
  • The position requires ongoing professional development through mandatory DoD Financial Management and DAWIA certification programs
  • Relocation reimbursement is subject to agency budget and staffing needs, so applicants should not assume full coverage

How could this fit your current goals and plans?

This role is an excellent fit for mid-to-senior level auditors looking to transition into a formal supervisory capacity within the federal government. It offers the stability of a federal career, a competitive salary, and the opportunity to lead teams in a highly regarded agency. For those already in the federal system, it provides a clear path for career advancement, while for private sector professionals, it offers a chance to apply specialized accounting skills to national defense objectives.

Our take

This is a strong opportunity for qualified accounting professionals with leadership experience who are interested in a long-term career with the Department of Defense. It is less suitable for those who cannot meet the strict U.S. citizenship, security clearance, or specific accounting education requirements.
