Our Take on This Opportunity

This section reflects Open Opportunities’ own analysis of the opportunity from an applicant’s perspective.

You may be a strong fit if…

  • Students or recent graduates with a strong academic background in International Relations, Business Administration, or Communications
  • Candidates who possess bilingual proficiency in English and Chinese, as this is essential for the daily coordination and drafting tasks
  • Individuals interested in gaining hands-on experience in humanitarian management and administrative operations within a UN agency

What should you think carefully about?

  • The role is strictly in-person in Beijing, and WFP does not provide support for accommodation or living expenses beyond the monthly stipend
  • The internship is a fixed 6-month commitment, which may require careful planning for those currently enrolled in academic programs
  • Applicants must be prepared for a competitive selection process that includes background and reference checks

How could this fit your current goals and plans?

This internship is an excellent opportunity for early-career professionals or students to gain practical experience in the operational heart of a major humanitarian organization. It provides a structured environment to develop professional administrative skills, cross-cultural communication abilities, and an understanding of how UN agencies function at the country level. Whether you are looking to pivot into the humanitarian sector or build a foundation in international office management, this role offers significant exposure to professional workflows and networking within the WFP.

Our take

This position is highly suitable for bilingual students or recent graduates based in or willing to relocate to Beijing who are eager to contribute to WFP's mission through administrative and operational support. It is less suitable for those seeking remote work or those who require full financial coverage for living and housing expenses, as the stipend is intended to supplement rather than fully cover these costs.
