Our Take on This Opportunity

This section reflects Open Opportunities’ own analysis of the opportunity from an applicant’s perspective.

You may be a strong fit if…

  • Professionals with a background in e-Governance or public sector digital transformation who are eager to apply technical skills to development outcomes.
  • Candidates with direct experience in the Koshi Province context or familiarity with Nepal's local government structures.
  • Individuals who possess both technical IT expertise and the ability to facilitate training and capacity-building for non-technical government stakeholders.

What should you think carefully about?

  • This is a fixed-term, one-year contract position, which may be extended but does not guarantee long-term permanent employment.
  • The role requires significant stakeholder engagement and coordination, meaning strong interpersonal and communication skills are as critical as technical IT proficiency.
  • Applicants should be prepared for a duty station in Biratnagar and ensure they are comfortable with the specific regional and local governance context of the assignment.

How could this fit your current goals and plans?

This role is an excellent opportunity for an IT professional to pivot into or advance within the international development sector. By working directly with the Provincial and Local Governance Strengthening Programme, the incumbent will gain high-level experience in how digital tools can be leveraged to support federalism and public service delivery in a developing country context. It is a strong fit for those looking to build a career in governance, digital policy, or international development.

Our take

This position is highly recommended for IT professionals with a passion for public service and governance who are looking to make a tangible impact in Nepal. It is less suitable for those seeking purely technical, back-end development roles, as this position is heavily focused on policy, coordination, and capacity building within a government framework.
