Our Take on This Opportunity

This section reflects Open Opportunities’ own analysis of the opportunity from an applicant’s perspective.

You may be a strong fit if…

  • Ideal for Tajikistan nationals with a strong background in social development and a commitment to humanitarian principles.
  • Well-suited for professionals with specific experience in women's economic empowerment, disability inclusion, or PSEA frameworks.
  • A strong fit for candidates who possess excellent facilitation and stakeholder engagement skills, particularly in sensitive cultural contexts.

What should you think carefully about?

  • This is a National Officer (NOA) position, meaning it is strictly restricted to citizens of Tajikistan.
  • The role requires high-level proficiency in English plus local languages, which may be a significant barrier for some applicants.
  • The position involves a one-year fixed-term contract, which, while extendable, requires a commitment to a specific project cycle.

How could this fit your current goals and plans?

This role is an excellent opportunity for a development professional to influence national-level humanitarian policy within a major United Nations agency. It allows the successful candidate to specialize in critical cross-cutting issues like gender and protection while contributing directly to Tajikistan's food security and resilience. The position offers significant professional growth through WFP's extensive training and internal mobility programs, making it a strong choice for those looking to build a long-term career in the UN system.

Our take

Serious consideration should be given by experienced Tajikistan-based professionals who specialize in inclusive programming and protection. It is less suitable for international applicants or those without the required professional experience in gender or social development.
