About the opportunity

The University of Helsinki, Department of Chemistry, invites applications for a postdoctoral or doctoral researcher position in photocatalytic radical chemistry at the newly established Lahdenperä Group located at the Kumpula campus. The research group aims to develop new concepts for controlling radical reactivity in photocatalytic transformations, focusing on hydrogen atom transfer (HAT) at surfaces and interfaces. The work involves developing and optimizing photocatalytic radical transformations, conducting mechanistic studies, surface functionalization, interface chemistry, and designing and synthesizing organic molecules. Postdoctoral researchers will also supervise students and participate in future funding applications.

Salary and benefits

  • Competitive salary based on the university salary system and qualifications
  • Starting salary of approximately 3,900 to 4,200 EUR per month for postdoctoral researchers
  • Starting salary of approximately 2,600 to 2,800 EUR per month for doctoral researchers
  • Comprehensive employee services including occupational health care and sports facilities
  • Ample opportunities for professional development and language studies
  • Relocation support and transition assistance through International Staff Services
