About the opportunity
This is an exciting 3-year postdoctoral opportunity to conduct fundamental and applied research in electrochemical direct air capture and conversion (e-DAC) at DTU Energy, tackling pressing climate challenges. The project addresses key scientific and technological hurdles associated with capturing CO2 directly from ambient air and converting it into valuable products. The work will be primarily computational, complemented by targeted experimental validation in close collaboration with an established experimental research team at DTU Energy. The successful candidate will lead the computational design and analysis of redox-active materials and electrochemical systems to improve efficiency, stability, and energy performance.

Our Take on This Opportunity
This section reflects Open Opportunities’ own analysis of the opportunity from an applicant’s perspective.
You may be a strong fit if…
- PhD holders in chemical engineering, materials science, or computational chemistry.
- Researchers with a strong publication record in electrochemical CO2 capture or conversion.
- Individuals who enjoy a blend of computational design and experimental validation.
- Professionals capable of managing independent research priorities within a collaborative team.
What should you think carefully about?
- The work is primarily computational, which may be a limitation for those seeking a purely experimental role.
- The position is based on-site at DTU Energy, requiring relocation to the Kgs. Lyngby area.
- Candidates should be aware that open-source background checks may be conducted due to the critical nature of the technology.
- The role is a fixed 3-year appointment, which should be factored into long-term career planning.
How could this fit your current goals and plans?
This postdoc offers a focused 3-year window to make a tangible impact on climate technology. It is an excellent fit for a researcher looking to bridge the gap between fundamental computational modeling and applied electrochemical systems. The role provides the academic freedom to lead a project while benefiting from the resources and collaborative environment of a top-tier energy research department.
Our take
This is a highly suitable role for a motivated computational scientist eager to tackle urgent climate challenges in a structured, well-supported academic environment. It is less suitable for those seeking permanent faculty positions or those who prefer to work entirely remotely.
