About the opportunity

The World Food Programme (WFP) Cambodia’s Advocacy and Reporting Unit is seeking a qualified National Multimedia Producer to document field activities, capture human-interest stories, and support donor visibility. The incumbent will work across three service categories: photography, videography, or a combination of both. Key responsibilities include participating in pre-assignment briefings, traveling to field locations to capture content, and delivering organized, high-quality audiovisual products. A priority assignment involves producing a 5-minute documentary-style video on rice fortification in Cambodia. This is a short-term consultancy role with a duration of up to 48 days over a 3-month period, reporting to the Advocacy and Reporting Officer.

Salary and benefits

  • Opportunity to contribute to high-impact humanitarian advocacy and reporting.
  • Professional engagement with a leading UN agency.
  • Attractive compensation package commensurate with the consultancy contract type.

Who can apply?

  • Must be a Cambodian national.
  • Diploma or degree in Photography, Film Production, Media Studies, Communications, Journalism, or a related field, or equivalent professional experience and portfolio.
  • Minimum 7 years of professional experience in photography and/or videography.
  • Proven experience producing content for development, humanitarian, or non-profit organizations.
  • Demonstrated portfolio of documentary-style or advocacy work.
  • Fluency (level C) in English; Khmer language skills are an asset.

Our Take on This Opportunity

This section reflects Open Opportunities’ own analysis of the opportunity from an applicant’s perspective.

You may be a strong fit if…

  • Experienced multimedia professionals with a strong portfolio in documentary-style storytelling or humanitarian advocacy.
  • Candidates who are comfortable working in a hybrid environment and are capable of managing field-based production logistics independently.
  • Professionals with a proven track record of delivering high-quality, edited audiovisual content under tight deadlines.

What should you think carefully about?

  • This is a short-term, fixed-term consultancy (up to 48 days over 3 months), not a permanent staff position.
  • The role is restricted to Cambodian nationals only.
  • The position requires significant field travel, which may involve demanding conditions depending on the project location.

How could this fit your current goals and plans?

This role is an excellent opportunity for a seasoned multimedia producer to build their portfolio with high-visibility humanitarian content. It serves as a strong bridge for professionals looking to transition into or gain deeper experience with UN agencies and international development organizations, while providing a platform to showcase technical skills in both photography and videography.

Our take

Cambodian nationals with extensive experience in documentary-style production should apply if they are looking for a high-impact, short-term consultancy. It is less suitable for those seeking long-term employment or those without a substantial professional portfolio.
