About the opportunity
The World Health Organization (WHO) country office in Burundi is hiring two National Consultants for Data Management to oversee data management, quality control, security, preliminary analysis, and database production for the 2026-2027 STEPS survey on noncommunicable disease (NCD) risk factors. Noncommunicable diseases represent the leading cause of global mortality, accounting for approximately 74% of global deaths, with a particularly heavy impact on low- and middle-income countries. In Burundi, available studies indicate a rising burden of NCDs, making a standard STEPS survey vital to measure risk factor prevalence among adults aged 18 to 69. The consultants will work closely with the national survey coordinator, field teams, and WHO experts to ensure the highest data standards from electronic tool configuration to final database production.
