Our Take on This Opportunity

This section reflects Open Opportunities’ own analysis of the opportunity from an applicant’s perspective.

You may be a strong fit if…

  • Public health professionals in Burundi with extensive experience in survey coordination and NCD surveillance.
  • Researchers with a proven track record of scientific publication and data analysis skills.
  • Candidates who possess both the required medical/public health credentials and fluency in French and Kirundi.

What should you think carefully about?

  • This is a short-term, three-month consultancy, not a permanent staff position.
  • The role requires significant travel across Burundi for field supervision and stakeholder meetings.
  • The consultant is responsible for their own tax and social security obligations as an independent contractor.

How could this fit your current goals and plans?

This opportunity is ideal for a public health expert looking to lead a high-impact national survey and influence health policy in Burundi. It provides a platform to apply technical expertise in epidemiology and project management within a UN framework, potentially opening doors for future international or national consultancy roles.

Our take

Qualified public health professionals with deep knowledge of the Burundian health system and STEPS methodology should apply. It is less suitable for those seeking long-term employment or those unable to commit to extensive field travel within Burundi.
