Our Take on This Opportunity

This section reflects Open Opportunities’ own analysis of the opportunity from an applicant’s perspective.

You may be a strong fit if…

  • Professionals with extensive experience in UN-style project operations, budget monitoring, and procurement
  • Individuals with a strong background in managing complex, multi-stakeholder projects in the Pacific region
  • Candidates who possess advanced degrees in administration or finance and are comfortable navigating corporate compliance systems

What should you think carefully about?

  • This is a non-staff consultancy position, which may have different benefits and long-term security compared to permanent staff roles
  • The role requires physical presence in Suva, Fiji, and may involve operational support missions to other Pacific countries
  • The 11-month duration is fixed-term, requiring candidates to plan for their next career step well in advance

How could this fit your current goals and plans?

This role is an excellent opportunity for an experienced operations professional to gain significant exposure to the United Nations system and the specific operational challenges of the Pacific Islands. It is well-suited for those looking to apply their expertise in project management and financial compliance to high-impact development and climate resilience projects.

Our take

Experienced project and operations managers with a background in international development should seriously consider this role. It is less suitable for those seeking permanent staff positions or those without the required 5+ years of relevant professional experience.
