About the opportunity
The Government of Ireland Postgraduate Scholarship Programme is an established national initiative funded by the Department of Further and Higher Education, Research, Innovation and Science, and managed by Taighde Éireann / Research Ireland (incorporating the former Irish Research Council). It provides individual, prestigious awards for excellent research across all disciplines, from archaeology to zoology, through an objective selection process using international, independent expert peer review. The programme supports bottom-up, non-directed research as well as specific themes supported by strategic funding partners such as the Environmental Protection Agency, the Department of Children, Equality, Disability, Integration and Youth, the Department of Foreign Affairs, and Met Éireann. Proposals of an interdisciplinary nature and those addressing new and emerging fields are highly encouraged.
Funding and benefits
- A stipend of €22,000 per annum
- A contribution to fees, including non-EU fees, up to a maximum of €5,750 per annum
- Eligible direct research expenses of €3,250 per annum
- Total maximum scholarship value of up to €31,000 per annum
