Our Take on This Opportunity

This section reflects Open Opportunities’ own analysis of the opportunity from an applicant’s perspective.

You may be a strong fit if…

  • Professionals with a background in early childhood education, child development, or related fields who have direct experience working with youth and children
  • Candidates looking for a leadership role that combines staff supervision, program operations, and direct mentorship within military child care facilities
  • Applicants seeking competitive federal benefits and substantial childcare tuition discounts for their own children

What should you think carefully about?

  • Strict background checks and mandatory Installation Records Checks are a condition of employment, with automatic disqualifiers for specific criminal or civil offenses
  • The application window is very short, closing on October 28, 2026
  • Relocation to San Diego, California, is required as the position is on-site at the Point Loma Complex

How could this fit your current goals and plans?

This role provides a structured career path within federal child care services, offering daily leadership experience, training support for professional credentials, and a stable salary package. It is well-suited for experienced educators and youth program coordinators aiming to advance into supervisory positions within defense community facilities.

Our take

Experienced child and youth care practitioners who meet the educational requirements and are prepared for rigorous federal background screening should apply promptly before the October 28, 2026 deadline. The position is less suitable for candidates unable to relocate to San Diego or those without the specified degree or specialized teaching experience.
