Our Take on This Opportunity

This section reflects Open Opportunities’ own analysis of the opportunity from an applicant’s perspective.

You may be a strong fit if…

  • Professionals with at least five years of solid communications, journalism, or public relations experience looking to apply their skills in a high-impact international health arena.
  • Candidates who possess strong speech-writing and strategic communication abilities, coupled with a track record of engaging with diverse media houses.
  • Bilingual or multilingual applicants with expert English proficiency and intermediate French skills who thrive in multicultural, multilingual UN environments.

What should you think carefully about?

  • This is a 1-year temporary appointment, meaning long-term job security beyond the initial contract duration is not guaranteed.
  • Relocation to Congo-Brazzaville is required for this on-site role, which involves adjusting to the local living conditions and post adjustment structure.
  • The application window is relatively short, requiring prompt assembly of application materials and credentials.

How could this fit your current goals and plans?

This role is ideal for mid-to-senior communications professionals seeking to build substantive experience within the United Nations system, specifically shaping regional health advocacy and media outreach in Africa. It offers an opportunity to enhance public health visibility while expanding international institutional networks.

Our take

Experienced communications specialists with a background in journalism, advocacy, or public relations who meet the language and degree criteria should seriously consider applying before the November deadline. Those unable to relocate to Congo-Brazzaville or seeking permanent staff positions rather than a 1-year temporary appointment may find this role less suitable.
