Our Take on This Opportunity

This section reflects Open Opportunities’ own analysis of the opportunity from an applicant’s perspective.

You may be a strong fit if…

  • Mid-career or established professionals seeking a dedicated 10-week period for deep, independent research or artistic experimentation.
  • Individuals looking for a structured, immersive environment in Cassis, France, to focus exclusively on reflection and creative output.
  • Practitioners who value a historically significant residency program that provides both the time and the physical setting for rigorous work.

What should you think carefully about?

  • This is the final public open call before the foundation shifts to a new selection process, making this a unique, one-time opportunity.
  • Applicants should verify the specific financial details of the stipend, as these are not explicitly detailed in the provided text.
  • The residency requires an on-site commitment in France, which necessitates planning for a 10-week relocation during the fall 2027 or spring 2028 periods.

How could this fit your current goals and plans?

This fellowship is ideal for those at a career juncture where they need to step away from daily obligations to focus on a specific project or body of work. By providing the necessary conditions for independent, emancipatory work, the Camargo Foundation offers a rare chance to accelerate a research or artistic project in a supportive, international environment. It is a strategic move for anyone aiming to produce a significant piece of work or to gain the mental space required for a new creative direction.

Our take

Established and mid-career professionals who thrive in independent, research-heavy environments should prioritize this application, especially given that it is the final public call of its kind.
