Our Take on This Opportunity
This section reflects Open Opportunities’ own analysis of the opportunity from an applicant’s perspective.
You may be a strong fit if…
- Researchers with a PhD in Mechanical Engineering, Electrical Engineering, Mathematics, or Control Engineering
- Academics aiming to lead a new research line in emerging areas like future manufacturing, nuclear fusion, or healthcare
- Professionals seeking a supportive start-up package that includes funding to hire a PhD student for four years
What should you think carefully about?
- The role is on-site in Eindhoven and involves a blend of leading research, securing funding, and teaching at multiple levels
- Candidates should evaluate whether their prior post-PhD experience aligns with the criteria for an immediate tenured position versus a developmental track
- Relocation to the Netherlands is required, though immigration and tax support are provided
How could this fit your current goals and plans?
This assistant professorship is ideal for a driven academic ready to establish an independent research profile in a high-tech ecosystem while contributing to critical STEM education initiatives.
Our take
Established researchers and experienced postdocs looking to secure a permanent or developmental faculty role in control systems should apply, while those seeking remote academic work or lacking relevant engineering PhDs will not find it suitable.
