Our Take on This Opportunity

This section reflects Open Opportunities’ own analysis of the opportunity from an applicant’s perspective.

You may be a strong fit if…

  • Expertise in power electronic converter design, control strategies, or wide-bandgap semiconductors.
  • Proven track record in academic research, PhD supervision, and securing external funding.
  • Interest in translating research into industrial applications or electrified transportation.

What should you think carefully about?

  • The position is strictly on-site in Enschede, requiring relocation if you are not currently based in the region.
  • You must be willing to obtain a University Teaching Qualification (UTQ) if you do not already hold one.
  • The application deadline is firm; ensure your research and teaching statements are tailored to the specific requirements.

How could this fit your current goals and plans?

This role is ideal for an ambitious researcher looking to establish or expand an independent research line within a well-supported academic environment. It offers a clear pathway for professional growth, whether you are an early-career academic seeking an Assistant Professor position or an experienced researcher aiming for an Associate Professorship with significant leadership responsibilities.

Our take

This is a strong opportunity for power electronics specialists with a blend of academic rigor and industrial interest. Candidates without a strong interest in teaching or those unable to relocate to the Netherlands may find this role less suitable.
