Our Take on This Opportunity

This section reflects Open Opportunities’ own analysis of the opportunity from an applicant’s perspective.

You may be a strong fit if…

  • IT professionals with proven supervisory and technical leadership experience managing enterprise ICT infrastructure and user support
  • Candidates experienced with IT service management frameworks (such as ITIL) and disaster recovery planning in operational or field settings
  • Technologists with a strong customer-service focus and the ability to explain complex technical concepts clearly to senior non-technical leadership

What should you think carefully about?

  • The role involves leading emergency IT preparedness and response, which can demand rapid problem resolution under high-pressure conditions
  • National Officer positions are standardly subject to local UN recruitment regulations and salary scales in Zambia
  • Requires broad oversight spanning budgeting, vendor contracts, cybersecurity governance, and beneficiary management systems rather than purely hands-on engineering

How could this fit your current goals and plans?

This role is well suited for an IT operations professional looking to take on managerial and strategic responsibility within a major international humanitarian organization. It provides direct leadership experience heading a country office technology unit, managing staff, and deploying digital solutions that support national-level development and emergency operations.

Our take

Experienced technology managers based in or eligible to work in Zambia who want to lead ICT operations in an enterprise humanitarian context should strongly consider applying before October 29, 2026.
