You may be a strong fit if…

  • You have a strong background in econometrics and experience handling large household survey datasets using tools like STATA or R.
  • You are passionate about humanitarian work and want to apply technical economic analysis to real-world food security challenges in Ukraine.
  • You possess the communication skills to translate complex data into clear, concise policy briefs for decision-makers.

What should you think carefully about?

  • The role is based in Kyiv and involves potential field missions, which may carry security risks as indicated by the provision of danger pay.
  • This is a Service Contract (SC-8) rather than a permanent staff position, though it is renewable based on performance and funding.
  • Eligibility is strictly limited to those already holding Ukrainian nationality or a valid local work permit.

How could this fit your current goals and plans?

This role is an excellent opportunity for an early-to-mid-career economist to gain high-impact experience within the United Nations system. It allows you to develop specialized skills in humanitarian targeting and macroeconomic monitoring while contributing directly to the stability and recovery of Ukraine. Whether your goal is to build a career in international development or to master applied econometric techniques in a crisis context, this position provides a robust platform for professional growth.

Our take

This position is ideal for Ukrainian analytical professionals with a strong quantitative background who want to work at the intersection of economics and humanitarian aid. It is less suitable for international applicants without existing residency or work permits in Ukraine or those seeking a fully remote role.
