Our Take on This Opportunity

This section reflects Open Opportunities’ own analysis of the opportunity from an applicant’s perspective.

You may be a strong fit if…

  • Seasoned professionals with extensive development sector experience who want to contribute flexibly on an on-demand basis to high-impact UN projects
  • Experts with deep specialized knowledge in areas ranging from green transformation and sustainable finance to AI development and gender equality
  • Candidates with a strong publication record, advanced academic credentials, and proven experience in policy dialogue and project formulation

What should you think carefully about?

  • Admission to the roster does not constitute a formal employment contract or guarantee active assignments and regular income
  • Fluency in both English and Mandarin Chinese is mandatory, limiting eligibility for non-Mandarin speakers
  • Assignments are structured on an on-demand basis, meaning workload and timing will fluctuate based on project needs

How could this fit your current goals and plans?

This roster placement fits professionals seeking high-level advisory and policy consulting opportunities with an international organization like the UN without committing to a fixed, full-time staff position. It allows experts to apply specialized skills to specific short-term projects while maintaining independent professional activities.

Our take

Seasoned development professionals with bilingual proficiency in English and Mandarin and expertise in sustainable human development should apply. Those seeking guaranteed full-time employment or lacking proficiency in Mandarin Chinese should look elsewhere.
