Our Take on This Opportunity

This section reflects Open Opportunities’ own analysis of the opportunity from an applicant’s perspective.

You may be a strong fit if…

  • Strong fit for professionals with a background in social services, military veteran support, community outreach, or public communication.
  • Ideal for candidates comfortable with regular travel, community engagement, and operating large specialized vehicles like a Mobile Vet Center.
  • Well-suited for individuals seeking career growth within the federal healthcare system via a structured multi-grade career ladder.

What should you think carefully about?

  • Requires frequent travel to various external locations and communities away from the base office, along with maintaining an unblemished driving record.
  • Strict two-page resume limit and rigorous documentation requirements (such as time-in-grade SF-50s) must be precisely met to avoid disqualification.
  • Mandatory annual seasonal influenza vaccination and a probationary/trial period apply as strict conditions of employment.

How could this fit your current goals and plans?

This role directly aligns with professionals aiming to build a stable, mission-driven career supporting military veterans and transitioning service members within the federal civil service. It offers valuable experience in community advocacy, program coordination, and public sector administration while providing clear advancement pathways.

Our take

Applicants with a strong background in veteran advocacy, community outreach, and valid driving credentials who can meet the strict application deadline should seriously consider applying. The position is less suitable for candidates who prefer a fixed office-bound schedule or who do not possess the required specialized federal experience or education levels.
