Our Take on This Opportunity
This section reflects Open Opportunities’ own analysis of the opportunity from an applicant’s perspective.
You may be a strong fit if…
- Ideal for professionals with deep roots or extensive field experience in the Peruvian Amazon, particularly those familiar with Awajún and Wampis cultural contexts.
- Strong fit for candidates with a robust background in Bilingual Intercultural Education (EIB) and territorial management.
- Excellent for individuals who excel at navigating complex institutional relationships between government agencies (UGEL/DREA) and local community leaders.
What should you think carefully about?
- The role requires living in or relocating to the remote province of Condorcanqui, which may involve challenging living conditions.
- As a consultancy, the position does not provide health insurance, requiring the consultant to manage their own coverage.
- The 11-month term is fixed with no guarantee of extension, making it a temporary commitment.
How could this fit your current goals and plans?
This opportunity is perfectly suited for an education specialist looking to apply territorial management skills in a high-stakes, culturally diverse environment. It allows a professional to directly influence the educational outcomes of indigenous adolescents while gaining prestigious experience within the UN system. The role provides a platform to implement sustainable pedagogical models that bridge the gap between national standards and local indigenous realities.
Our take
Serious consideration should be given by those with a strong commitment to indigenous rights and Amazonian development who are ready for a field-heavy, on-site role in a remote region. It is less suitable for candidates seeking a traditional office-based role in Lima or those requiring long-term job security with full benefits.
