Our Take on This Opportunity

This section reflects Open Opportunities’ own analysis of the opportunity from an applicant’s perspective.

You may be a strong fit if…

  • Colombian nationals with a technical diploma in social work or community promotion.
  • Professionals with at least three years of experience in rural community development and indigenous engagement.
  • Candidates with strong Spanish language skills and a willingness to travel for fieldwork.

What should you think carefully about?

  • This is a temporary 10-month contract, which may not suit those seeking long-term stability.
  • The role requires significant travel to rural communities, so applicants should be comfortable with field-based work environments.
  • Candidates must ensure their academic degrees are from institutions listed in the WHED database to meet FAO standards.

How could this fit your current goals and plans?

This position is an excellent opportunity for a social development professional to gain high-level experience with an international organization like the FAO. It allows for direct impact on community initiatives, including gender affirmative actions and native seed conservation, making it a strong choice for someone looking to build a specialized portfolio in rural and indigenous community support within Colombia.

Our take

This role is ideal for experienced Colombian social practitioners looking for a high-impact, short-term project. It is less suitable for those seeking permanent employment or roles that do not involve frequent travel.
