Our Take on This Opportunity

This section reflects Open Opportunities’ own analysis of the opportunity from an applicant’s perspective.

You may be a strong fit if…

  • Holders of a completed Ph.D. in psychology with a strong background and registration in clinical psychology looking to advance academic and clinical research careers.
  • Researchers experienced in peer-reviewed publishing, statistics, and mixed-method designs who enjoy combining teaching with clinical practice.
  • Professionals seeking an institutional setting that supports both independent scientific inquiry and structured professional development pathways.

What should you think carefully about?

  • The position is part-time at 20 hours per week, which may require careful workload management between research, teaching, and clinical duties.
  • The initial appointment is fixed-term for 6 years, requiring successful fulfillment of a development agreement for permanent placement.
  • Candidates must be fluent in both German and English and hold formal registration on the Austrian professional list for clinical psychology.

How could this fit your current goals and plans?

This position suits early-to-mid career postdoctoral psychologists aiming to consolidate their profile in clinical research, teaching, and university administration within a prominent Austrian academic institution. It provides an ideal framework to combine hands-on clinical diagnostics with high-level academic publishing and project coordination over a medium-term horizon.

Our take

Qualified clinical psychologists with a doctorate and a track record in research and teaching should strongly consider applying. It is less suitable for applicants who do not meet the specific Austrian clinical registry requirements or those seeking immediate permanent tenure without a preliminary fixed-term development phase.
