Our Take on This Opportunity

This section reflects Open Opportunities’ own analysis of the opportunity from an applicant’s perspective.

You may be a strong fit if…

  • PhD holders in molecular biology, genetics, or biochemistry
  • Researchers with specific expertise in budding yeast genetics or meiotic experimental systems
  • Professionals looking to balance active bench research with laboratory management and mentorship

What should you think carefully about?

  • The initial contract is limited to 3 years, with permanent status contingent on future financial availability
  • The role requires a significant commitment to organizational and administrative tasks beyond core research
  • You should verify if the salary level meets your expectations for a senior-level position in Vienna

How could this fit your current goals and plans?

This role is well-suited for a scientist looking to transition into a leadership-adjacent position where they can influence lab workflows and mentor students while maintaining an active research profile. It provides a platform to leverage existing expertise in chromosome biology within a high-quality research environment.

Our take

Experienced molecular biologists who enjoy the dual challenge of scientific inquiry and lab management will find this a strong fit, while those focused exclusively on independent research may find the administrative burden restrictive.
