  • Candidates with a background in disaster risk management or climate change communications will be highly competitive.
  • Individuals with proven experience in managing multi-channel digital campaigns and media relations are ideal for this role.
  • Applicants who possess local language skills (Fiji Hindi or iTaukei) will be better positioned to engage effectively with diverse community groups.

What should you think carefully about?

  • This is a fixed-term, project-based role; while there is a possibility of extension, it is not guaranteed.

How could this fit your current goals and plans?

This role is an excellent opportunity for communications professionals to gain high-level experience within the UN system while contributing to life-saving disaster preparedness in the Pacific. It is particularly well-suited for those looking to pivot into or advance within the humanitarian and development sector, offering a chance to manage flagship national campaigns and build a robust professional network in disaster risk reduction.

Our take

This position is highly recommended for communications and PR professionals based in or willing to relocate to Fiji who are passionate about climate resilience and public safety. It is less suitable for those seeking a purely academic or long-term permanent administrative career path, as the role is deeply operational and project-focused.
