  • Current students or recent graduates in economics, agricultural sciences, political science, or international development looking to gain practical UN experience
  • Bilingual candidates with professional proficiency in both English and Chinese who want to engage in policy dialogues and South-South cooperation
  • Individuals with a strong interest in global food security, rural development, and humanitarian policy research

What should you think carefully about?

  • Applicants must be prepared to relocate to Beijing, China, as the internship is on-site and WFP does not cover housing or living expenses beyond the monthly stipend

  • Candidates must independently handle visa arrangements and associated costs

How could this fit your current goals and plans?

This six-month full-time internship provides a valuable stepping stone for students or recent graduates aiming to build a career in international development, humanitarian assistance, or policy research. It offers hands-on exposure to United Nations operations and South-South cooperation frameworks in Beijing, strengthening research, communication, and coordination competencies.

Our take

This opportunity is well-suited for bilingual students or recent graduates in relevant disciplines who are ready to relocate to Beijing and gain direct experience within the UN system. Candidates who require full relocation financial support or are unable to commit to an on-site, six-month schedule may find this role less suitable.
