About the opportunity
The Department of Computer Science at the University of Helsinki invites applications for a Postdoctoral Researcher in Quantum Computing Middleware and Applications. This position is part of the UnloQ project, which bridges early-stage quantum technology and industrial use through circuit optimization, evolving error correction techniques, and real-world applications. The quantum software group operates with an empirical research methodology, utilizing locally hosted superconducting quantum computers and national supercomputing resources. The role involves developing techniques, running experiments on 50- to 300-qubit quantum computers, analyzing results, publishing scientific papers, collaborating with industry partners, and supervising MSc and PhD students. The position is fixed-term for two years with a possible 2.5-year extension and includes a 6-month trial period.
