Our Take on This Opportunity
This section reflects Open Opportunities’ own analysis of the opportunity from an applicant’s perspective.
You may be a strong fit if…
- PhD holders in Social Sciences, Humanities, or Migration Studies
- Researchers with strong qualitative skills and experience in migration-related themes
- Individuals with conversational proficiency in languages like Hindi, Tagalog, or Vietnamese
What should you think carefully about?
- The role requires a full-time, on-site commitment in Singapore
- The position is initially for one year, with renewal dependent on performance and project needs
- Applicants must be prepared to conduct fieldwork with foreign-born residents aged 55 and above
How could this fit your current goals and plans?
This fellowship offers a significant opportunity to contribute to a high-impact, SSRC-funded project at a prestigious institution. It is an excellent fit for a researcher aiming to build a robust publication record in high-impact journals while gaining deep, interdisciplinary experience in the study of ageing and migration within an Asian context.
Our take
This is a strong career move for early-career researchers specializing in migration or social geography; it is less suitable for those unable to commit to on-site fieldwork or those without the required language proficiencies.
