Our Take on This Opportunity
This section reflects Open Opportunities’ own analysis of the opportunity from an applicant’s perspective.
You may be a strong fit if…
- You hold a relevant Master's degree in chemical engineering or an equivalent two-year master's program (120 ECTS points).
- You possess specific knowledge of conventional CO2 capture technologies and hands-on experience with modeling chemical engineering systems.
- You thrive in an international, cross-disciplinary academic setting and want to focus your research on experimental CO2 capture, utilization (PtX), and storage.
- You are comfortable with self-management, independent work planning, and executing complex technical tasks with attention to detail.
What should you think carefully about?
- The position requires on-site work in Kgs. Lyngby, Denmark, meaning relocation is necessary if you are not already based locally.
- Open-source background checks may be conducted on qualified candidates due to research involving critical technology subject to special security and export control rules.
- You must ensure your application materials, including transcripts, diplomas, and the cover letter, are fully combined into a single PDF file before the August 31, 2026 deadline.
- Candidates may apply prior to obtaining their Master's degree, but you must verify that you will receive it officially before the December 1, 2026 starting date.
How could this fit your current goals and plans?
This fully funded three-year PhD position is well-suited for someone looking to build a robust academic career or specialized technical expertise in net-zero technologies and experimental chemical engineering. By working in a rapidly growing research environment at DTU, you can gain high-level laboratory experience, publish scientific papers, and establish an international professional network in a critical global sector.
Our take
Master's graduates in chemical engineering seeking a structured, fully funded European doctoral opportunity in sustainability should seriously consider applying. Those unable to relocate on-site to Denmark or uncomfortable with export control background checks will find it less suitable.
