Our Take on This Opportunity

This section reflects Open Opportunities’ own analysis of the opportunity from an applicant’s perspective.

You may be a strong fit if…

  • Candidates with a strong foundation in theoretical physics, electromagnetics, or quantum optics who are eager to bridge the gap between numerical modeling and experimental implementation.
  • Researchers looking for a highly collaborative, international PhD experience that includes structured secondments at prestigious European research institutions.
  • Individuals who thrive in an environment that emphasizes both independent research responsibility and active participation in a broader doctoral network.

What should you think carefully about?

  • The MSCA mobility rule is strict; ensure you have not spent more than 12 months in Denmark in the last three years before applying.
  • The role requires significant relocation, including mandatory secondments in Germany, which may impact personal planning.
  • The position is highly competitive, and only candidates with top-tier academic records are expected to be shortlisted for interviews.

How could this fit your current goals and plans?

This position is an excellent opportunity for early-career researchers aiming to establish themselves in the field of quantum technology. It provides a clear, funded path to a PhD while building a professional network across Europe through the QUEST consortium. The combination of theoretical work and experimental collaboration offers a well-rounded training experience suitable for those targeting future roles in academia or high-tech industry.

Our take

This is a premier opportunity for high-achieving physics or engineering graduates who meet the specific MSCA mobility requirements. It is ideal for those seeking a structured, well-funded, and internationally connected doctoral program. Candidates who do not meet the mobility criteria or who lack a strong background in the specified technical areas should look for other opportunities.
