Our Take on This Opportunity
This section reflects Open Opportunities’ own analysis of the opportunity from an applicant’s perspective.
You may be a strong fit if…
- Licensed pharmacists seeking a federal career path within the Department of Defense
- Professionals comfortable with mission-essential roles in remote or extreme weather environments
- Candidates with strong clinical pharmacy and operational management experience
What should you think carefully about?
- This is a term appointment, not a permanent career-conditional position, with a maximum duration of eight years
- Relocation costs are not covered by the agency
- The position is 'obligated,' meaning the incumbent may be displaced by an employee with statutory return rights
- The resume must be strictly limited to two pages or it will be disqualified
How could this fit your current goals and plans?
This role offers a significant opportunity for a pharmacist to gain specialized experience within the U.S. military healthcare system. It is well-suited for those looking to transition into federal service, build experience in a high-stakes clinical environment, or leverage their skills in a unique geographic location like Alaska.
Our take
Qualified pharmacists who are comfortable with the constraints of a term-limited, obligated position and the specific requirements of working in Alaska should apply. It is less suitable for those seeking permanent, long-term job security or those unable to relocate without agency-funded moving assistance.
