You may be a strong fit if…
- Professionals with extensive experience in procurement and operational management within international organizations or UN agencies
- Candidates who have successfully managed complex projects in crisis or post-conflict environments
- Individuals with strong leadership skills capable of overseeing multidisciplinary teams and navigating complex stakeholder landscapes
What should you think carefully about?
- This is a fixed-term role based in Maiduguri, Nigeria, which is a high-security, post-conflict environment
- The application process is strictly tiered; ensure you meet the specific internal UNDP criteria before applying
- The role requires significant travel and high-level coordination with government officials and international partners
How could this fit your current goals and plans?
This role is ideal for an experienced operations professional looking to make a tangible impact in a high-stakes development context. It offers the chance to lead critical infrastructure and service delivery operations in the Lake Chad region, providing deep exposure to UN-level project management, financial oversight, and inter-agency collaboration. It is a strong career move for those aiming to transition into senior leadership roles within international development or humanitarian organizations.
Our take
Experienced operations managers with a background in crisis-affected regions should strongly consider this role. It is less suitable for those without significant senior-level operational experience or those who are not comfortable working in challenging, high-pressure post-conflict environments.
