Our Take on This Opportunity

This section reflects Open Opportunities’ own analysis of the opportunity from an applicant’s perspective.

You may be a strong fit if…

  • Professionals with a background in humanitarian information management or performance reporting who are looking to apply their analytical skills in a high-impact, field-based role.
  • Candidates who possess strong leadership capabilities and experience in managing small teams, as this role requires coaching and guiding junior staff.
  • Individuals with a solid understanding of OIM concepts and the ability to synthesize complex data into clear, actionable insights for senior stakeholders.

What should you think carefully about?

  • This position is restricted to Gambian nationals only; international applicants are not eligible.
  • The role is a full-time, on-site position based in Banjul, requiring a commitment to the local duty station.
  • The selection process is highly rigorous and includes technical assessments, so candidates should ensure their application materials are comprehensive and accurate.

How could this fit your current goals and plans?

This role is an excellent opportunity for a mid-career professional to deepen their expertise in humanitarian operations and performance management within a major UN agency. It offers a clear pathway to contribute to large-scale humanitarian efforts while developing leadership skills in a multicultural environment. For those already working in the development or humanitarian sector in Gambia, this position provides a significant platform to influence operational strategy and decision-making at a national level.

Our take

Gambian nationals with a strong background in information management or humanitarian analysis should seriously consider this role. It is a well-structured, professional opportunity for those committed to humanitarian work, though it is less suitable for those seeking remote work or those who do not meet the specific nationality requirement.
