Our Take on This Opportunity
This section reflects Open Opportunities’ own analysis of the opportunity from an applicant’s perspective.
You may be a strong fit if…
- A strong match for Indonesian nationals with a background in forestry, environmental science, or agricultural economics who want to contribute directly to national climate and REDD+ initiatives.
- Ideal for professionals with experience in greenhouse gas inventories, remote sensing, geospatial technologies, or forest monitoring systems.
- Well-suited for candidates looking to build a career within the United Nations system and coordinate policy dialogue between government bodies and international agencies.
What should you think carefully about?
- Applicants must already hold Indonesian nationality, making this opportunity restricted to local citizens.
- Requires professional proficiency in both English and the local language to draft complex technical reports and lead multidisciplinary teams.
- Fixed-term contract structure means employment security depends on project continuation and performance extensions.
How could this fit your current goals and plans?
This role provides a significant platform for mid-career professionals aiming to deepen their expertise in international forestry policy, climate finance, and sustainable development within a major UN specialized agency. It helps bridge technical research with national policy implementation in Indonesia.
Our take
Indonesian forestry and climate professionals with a Master's degree and relevant project experience should seriously consider applying before the October 2026 deadline. Applicants lacking local citizenship or required background experience in agricultural or forestry development will not be suitable.
