Our Take on This Opportunity
This section reflects Open Opportunities’ own analysis of the opportunity from an applicant’s perspective.
You may be a strong fit if…
- Strong fit for professionals with advanced qualifications in fisheries, aquaculture, or disaster risk management and direct experience in contingency planning or community-based resource management in Iran.
- Ideal for candidates who possess deep familiarity with Iranian fisheries institutions, cooperatives, and the specific socio-economic context of southern coastal and island communities in Hormozgan Province.
- Well-suited for practitioners with strong facilitation skills who can bridge technical assessments with practical, community-level capacity development and government coordination.
What should you think carefully about?
- The position requires availability for authorized field missions to Hormozgan Province and adherence to the UN-Iran workweek from Sunday to Thursday.
- This is a non-staff Personal Services Agreement (PSA) offering up to 140 working days over a 9-month duration rather than a permanent staff position.
How could this fit your current goals and plans?
This consultancy offers an opportunity to apply technical expertise directly to humanitarian and early rehabilitation efforts supporting vulnerable fishing communities. It is well-suited for mid-to-senior specialists looking to contribute to impactful UN projects in agrifood systems transformation, emergency preparedness, and local capacity development.
Our take
National professionals in Iran with a strong background in fisheries livelihoods, emergency preparedness, and stakeholder facilitation should seriously consider applying. The role is less suitable for candidates without regional expertise in Iranian fisheries institutions or those seeking long-term permanent staff appointments.
