Our Take on This Opportunity
This section reflects Open Opportunities’ own analysis of the opportunity from an applicant’s perspective.
You may be a strong fit if…
- Professionals with a background in humanitarian monitoring, accountability systems, or third-party monitoring who are looking to lead strategic oversight in a complex field environment.
- Candidates with advanced technical skills in data visualization (Tableau, Power BI) and statistical software (SPSS, R, Python) who enjoy translating complex datasets into actionable management intelligence.
- Experienced team leaders who are comfortable managing both internal staff and external third-party monitoring providers.
What should you think carefully about?
- This is a high-responsibility role in a complex, conflict-affected operational environment, which may involve significant pressure and challenging working conditions.
- The role requires fluency in both English and Arabic, which is a strict requirement for effective stakeholder engagement and field coordination in Yemen.
- Applicants must be prepared for a rigorous background and reference check process, which is standard for UN-affiliated humanitarian roles.
How could this fit your current goals and plans?
This role is an excellent fit for mid-career humanitarian professionals aiming to transition into senior monitoring and evaluation leadership. It offers the opportunity to manage a sophisticated, integrated accountability framework (iMEFs) and influence high-level decision-making in one of the world's most critical humanitarian operations. It is a strong step for those looking to build a career within the UN system or to deepen their expertise in data-driven humanitarian governance.
Our take
This position is highly suitable for experienced monitoring professionals who possess the required technical data skills and are ready to take on a leadership role in a challenging, high-impact humanitarian context. It is less suitable for those without significant field monitoring experience or those who do not meet the strict language requirements.
