Our Take on This Opportunity

This section reflects Open Opportunities’ own analysis of the opportunity from an applicant’s perspective.

You may be a strong fit if…

  • University students or recent graduates (within 18 months) in conference interpretation or related fields.
  • Individuals with expert knowledge of English and French, plus a third official WHO language (Arabic, Chinese, or Russian).
  • Candidates interested in the intersection of language services and AI-driven interpretation technology.
  • Those seeking hands-on experience in a high-level international organization like the WHO.

What should you think carefully about?

  • The internship is on-site in Geneva, which is a high-cost-of-living area; ensure the provided living allowance meets your financial needs.
  • The position is highly competitive, and only shortlisted candidates will be contacted.
  • Candidates must be prepared to confirm their vaccination status as required by WHO policy.
  • The 24-week duration is a significant time commitment; verify your academic or post-graduate status aligns with this timeline.

How could this fit your current goals and plans?

This internship is a premier goal for aspiring conference interpreters aiming to gain exposure to the technical and administrative complexities of global health governance. It provides a unique environment to refine language skills while contributing to modern interpretation management tools and AI testing, which are increasingly vital in the professional language services sector.

Our take

This is a highly prestigious opportunity for language students or recent graduates. It is less suitable for those who cannot relocate to Geneva or those who do not possess the required language combinations.
