Our Take on This Opportunity
This section reflects Open Opportunities’ own analysis of the opportunity from an applicant’s perspective.
You may be a strong fit if…
- Candidates with a strong technical background in engineering or environmental sciences who are eager to apply their skills to real-world circular economy projects.
- Individuals looking to gain hands-on experience in international development and policy implementation at the national level.
- Applicants who are comfortable working in a bilingual environment (French/English) and possess strong data analysis skills, particularly in Excel.
What should you think carefully about?
- This is an unpaid internship; applicants must have independent financial support or sponsorship to cover all living and travel costs.
- The role requires physical presence in Abidjan, Côte d'Ivoire, and interns are responsible for their own visa and logistical arrangements.
- The internship is a full-time commitment, though some flexibility may be granted for educational requirements.
How could this fit your current goals and plans?
This internship is an excellent opportunity for students or recent graduates to bridge the gap between academic theory and practical policy implementation. It provides a unique chance to work directly with government bodies and international organizations on high-impact sustainability projects, which can significantly enhance a resume for future careers in environmental consulting, international development, or public policy.
Our take
This position is highly suitable for motivated students or recent graduates in engineering or environmental fields who have the financial means to support themselves during a 6-month stay in Abidjan. It is less suitable for those seeking paid employment or those unable to secure independent funding for the duration of the program.
